About the Homeless Initiative

All across Los Angeles County, there are men, women and children experiencing homelessness who desperately need assistance and vital services.  At this time of heightened partnership and cooperation in the region, we are expanding our critical work to combat and prevent homelessness through an unprecedented Countywide movement.

With the creation of the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative and passage by voters of the landmark Measure H sales tax, our community has affirmed that we care about our neighbors and our future, and we are willing to invest in an effort aimed at building a sustainable future that will improve the lives of thousands of men, women and children experiencing homelessness.

While movements take time to build, there have been significant steps forward to advance our efforts. Thousands of individuals and families already have been helped all across the County through a major expansion of outreach, emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing and benefits advocacy for homeless disabled adults. This is due to robust collaboration between cities, service providers, County departments, civic leaders, faith-based institutions and a galvanized public.

Working together, Measure H is projected to enable 45,000 families and individuals to escape homelessness in the first five years, while preventing homelessness for 30,000 additional families and individuals.
