It was a momentous day for Lisa. It began with her getting off the streets and into a hotel room, thanks to Pathway Home. It ended with her attending her son’s high school graduation.
Lisa, 53 years old, began experiencing homelessness five years ago after she left an abusive fiancé. Before her life unraveled, she said, she had been a professional working at a government agency. Lisa said she’s living proof that homelessness can happen to anyone.
Pathway Home also provided a safe haven for Lisa’s puppies, one of whom, she said, had a narrow escape from a coyote. Now, Mocha Frappuccino and Walker Texas Ranger are enjoying their new “dog bed”.
After getting her key, Lisa rushed to get ready for her son’s high school graduation (see photo). He had visited her encampment as a boy and she teared up thinking about how far they had come. He’s already enrolled in courses to become a firefighter.
Lisa couldn’t catch a rideshare to the ceremony, so a member of the Pathway Home team drove her there. She had the biggest smile walking into campus.
