Los Angeles County’s Pathway Home program brought 24 people experiencing homelessness off the streets of Lynwood and into safe interim housing, where they will receive supportive services and other resources to help them transition out of homelessness and into permanent housing.

Many of these residents were elderly and/or medically fragile and will receive uniquely tailored services such as mental and physical health care, housing navigation, and life skills training.  Supervisor Janice Hahn and Lynwood Mayor Pro Tem Rita Soto, who attended this engagement, celebrated their coming indoors to the support they need.

Pathway Home is an encampment resolution program that is a critical component of the County’s comprehensive response to the local emergency on homelessness adopted by the Board of Supervisors early this year. By leveraging emergency powers and partnerships with local jurisdictions, Pathway Home brings people living in encampments off the streets and into immediately available interim housing accompanied by a comprehensive suite of supportive services enabling them to ultimately move into permanent housing.

Partners in this Pathway Home operation included the Office of Supervisor Janice Hahn; the City of Lynwood; the County Chief Executive Office, Sheriff’s, Health Services, and Mental Health Departments; the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro); and the nonprofit service providers HOPICS and St. Joseph Center.
