Take a tour of Sunny Gardens Apartments, an affordable housing community for seniors with limited means. It had been at risk of being converted to market rate but a collaborative effort that included a $1 million investment from the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) helped to preserve and rehabilitate it.
Sunny Gardens Apartments has 94 one-bedroom units for seniors aged 62 and older, providing them with safe, decent and affordable housing.
LACDA contributed $1 million from the County’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund and provided 88 vouchers to help subsidize tenants’ rent payments.
The collaborative effort also included the Alliance Property Group, Community Revitalization & Development Corporation (CRDC), Hunt Capital Partners, Rose Community Capital, and Century Housing. Additionally, financial collaborators for the project include the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee and California Debt Limit Allocation Committee.
