Casa de la Luz, 2024

This image depicts a modern, colorful, multi-story building featuring a blend of architectural styles and materials. The façade includes various design elements: On the left, a minimalist white section with rectangular windows. A central portion with soft pink walls and arched windows. A section with beige brick-like patterns forming geometric cutouts. A striking mural on the right, showcasing vibrant floral artwork with sunflowers and a yellow sun against a pink-and-white background. The building is surrounded by greenery, including rooftop plants and ground-level landscaping. The entrance, labeled "Casa de la Luz," suggests it might serve as a residential or community-oriented structure.

Casa de la Luz, a partnership between Hollywood Community Housing (HCHC) and the County of Los Angeles, will create 95 units of service-enriched affordable housing in unincorporated East Los Angeles. Of the 95 units,  40 units are Permanent Supportive Housing, 53 units are general affordable, and two units are set aside for managers. The Project includes three landscaped and furnished terrace patios, a courtyard, on-site property management and services offices, a ground floor community room, and a public art installation by a local muralist. Project funding includes $7 million in Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) NOFA funds, $27 million from the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) Program and 40 Project Based Vouchers from LACDA.  In addition to the $27 million in AHSC funds for the housing development, the project received an additional $10.9 million in AHSC funding for community and transit infrastructure improvements.
