Los Angeles County is ramping up efforts to remove recreational vehicles (RV’s) that had served as encampments for people experiencing homelessness and became a health and safety hazard after being damaged or destroyed by fires, or abandoned.

As of June 20, 2023, the County has removed 12 such RVs in the east Gardena-Harbor Gateway area.

Under a plan approved by the Board of Supervisors, the County is striving to resolve RV encampments, including by conducting outreach to people in living them, providing them with supportive services as needed, and offering to match them to available housing and resources.
