Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, First District, released the following statement after the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved her motion on funding solutions for local jurisdictions administering homelessness programs:
“Local jurisdictions play a critical role in bolstering our homeless services systems. As the County considers how best to support cities that are willing to provide solutions for its unhoused residents, it must ensure that they have access to the funding needed to both launch new and continue to fund existing programming for people experiencing homelessness. It is only by working together that we will find a solution to homelessness.”
The motion approved today directs the County’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to make future Board approved County funding opportunities for local jurisdictions available to both cities and CoGs through an equitable and appropriate application process. Additionally, the motion requests the CEO to report back in writing in 90 days with an overview of the funding process for local jurisdictions and an assessment of CEO Homeless Initiative staffing requirements necessary to support increased contract administration and oversight for local jurisdictions receiving County funding.
