The California Strategic Growth Council announced the seventh round of its Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities program grants, which included $30.8 million to Meta Housing Corp. and Los Angeles County for their Metro at Florence project.
The project will catalyze the transformation of the unincorporated Florence-Firestone community by creating 158 new affordable homes. It will also support residents by providing onsite supportive services spaces, laundry facilities, and outdoor recreational spaces.
Finally, it will promote more biking, walking, and transit use by constructing a new bicycle boulevard by purchasing nine new zero emission buses.
