Los Angeles County’s Harm Reduction Teams are specially trained in techniques to help people with substance use disorders.

Department of Public Health-Substance Abuse Prevention and Control Director Gary Tsai said harm reduction includes providing needle exchanges, fentanyl testing strips, and overdose reversal medication, which have not only been proven to save lives but also to reduce infectious disease transmissions.

The recoverla.org website offers additional information, along with a toll-free, 24-hour hotline – 1-844-704-7500 – that can connect any eligible person to substance use treatment in LA County.
