Silverio, 62, was in a halfway house on parole when the Measure H-funded LA:Rise employment program connected him to services through Southeast LA (SELA) America’s Job Centers of California (AJCC) in Huntington Park and the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) in LA. This got him hired at Saroyan Hardwoods, and he is now self-sufficient and providing for his family.
“I hope my story encourages others who have struggled in life never to feel hopeless because there are people who care about you,” Silverio said. “Just start with your lifestyle and attitude and you’ll go a long way in life.”
